White people get mad when you wear a band t shirt of a band you don’t listen to, but they’re fine with wearing headdresses from cultures they know and care nothing about.

The End of Iraq. TIME’s new cover on the disaster rippling in the Middle East

But not that US/NATO military-imperialism had anything to do with “The End of Iraq” or anything. /eye-roll.

"The end of Iraq".

My god, how sensationalist and presumptuous does one have to be to claim such an awful and heartless statement? Casually stating the demise of a nation? Its as if there aren’t people and homes and villages and actual valuable life at stake if that were to ever happen.

American publications treat other countries and lives with absolutely no consideration or empathy (for political issues that this country is more than partly responsible for) and have to gall to wonder why the US is resented across the globe.

Iraq is home to the world’s oldest documented civilization and through much political turmoil has managed to survive, time and time again. Iraqis survived the Ba’athist regime, the Gulf War, deadly sanctions of the Clinton era and one of the most destructive military occupations in near history, thanks to your precious painting ex-president, George Dubya. They survived the horrors of the past and Iraq will also claim victorious to this.

If you want to report on ISIS, please go for it, as it needs to be done. Their crimes are despicable and I’m in no way trying to state otherwise. But this is not the way. Tagging some overstimulating (and not to mention, horrendously disingenuous) headline with an inevitably warped and disattached article to sell magazines is not the way. Have a fucking heart and some dignity. I know the main objective of TIME is to flip a profit primarily and proving respect secondary, but you don’t have to be this reprehensible to do it.
